Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on the 22nd of November 1985 New York City New York) has received acclaim for her acting abilities across genres ranging from period dramas to thrillers to action-packed films. Johansson was born in New York City, and raised there by her father, an architect, and mother who produced. Her twin brother Hunter as well as her mother were among the youngest of siblings. By the time she was seven years old, her love of acting had grown. She started to audition for commercials. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly following and then went to the Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. When she was eight, she appeared with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry, and at nine she made her film debut in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson then appeared in Just Cause, but she first made an appearance in Manny & Lo, a film about siblings left behind by their parents who flee. After that, she earned critical praise for portraying the role of a teenager who been injured and resulted in her being with a blemish on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention in Ghost World (2002) as the self-deprecating outcast Rebecca. As she was making her stage debut with Wildflower she also worked with various theatre projects in the USA. She studied in the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
